RFID-Based Attendance System FAQs
How the RFID card, readers, and attendance capture actually work, day to day.
The basics
Each employee carries an RFID card with a unique ID. Tapping it against a reader at the entrance identifies the employee instantly and logs a time-in or time-out — no PIN, no fingerprint, no manual sign-in sheet.
The first tap of the day is recorded as time-in; the next tap after that is time-out. Some readers can also be configured as entrance-only or exit-only for buildings with separate doors.
Effectively instant — readers recognize a card in a fraction of a second, and the attendance record (and live HR dashboard) updates immediately after.
Cards & hardware
Report it to HR. The old card is deactivated immediately (it stops working at every reader and door), and a replacement can be issued the same day — your attendance history stays intact under your profile.
Technically the card itself doesn't verify identity beyond the tap, which is why lost/stolen cards should be reported immediately for deactivation. Many teams pair RFID with visible ID badges and supervisor spot-checks as an additional safeguard.
Typically one per staffed entrance, though high-traffic entrances sometimes get a second reader to avoid queuing. We help size this during onboarding based on your floor plan.
Reliability
Readers keep capturing taps locally through a brief network interruption and sync automatically once connectivity returns — no tap is lost. For extended power outages, readers on battery-backed circuits continue working; door access has its own offline fallback too.
File an attendance correction request from your portal with a short note — your manager or HR reviews and approves it before it affects your record.
